the jobs

God it was great,
and we looked down onto our arms and into the sun and saw the veins go boom boom boom
there were moments when we were paying for school and books and electric, the checks coming in were $500 a month and the ones going out were $1,500
we followed the script
rode our bicycles, drank our faces, studied our brains and tried to wake up in the morning with white teeth, a clean neck and alacrity

then there was “the jobs”
I only went to one interview, “Microsoft or bust”
I nailed it
Texas, a street of food, service academy, Colby, Vic
$5000 in $1,500 out …

And when I looked into Tiffs eyes I could already see my children.
