knife

James knew all the libraries well; when he was young he learned the Dewey decimal system and could pull almost any book out of his ass. He loved the poetry books in high school and would conform to rudimentary ways to taking knowledge which consisted of just plain old ripping the pages out of TS Elliot, Bukowski, Pinsky works… I was a little craftier when it came to Michael Jordan… I was able to find every picture of Michael Jordan and with an exacto knife I kept in my back pack, like a surgeon in the back of the room I carefully extracted every article, every picture out that could find of this jumping sneaker genius.
It was magical, the way his feet sort of followed his body, which followed his head, which followed his mind which followed his will.
I would take all these pictures and put them upon my wall, james would take his poetry and put them into words. a
