It was one of my father’s favorite artists, but I never heard the song until I was hanging out with my uncle jimmy who had all these records. I must have ben the kid of kids and I said, “lay lady lay across my big brass bed” and jimmy played the song… there was so much power in music then… It was like a movie, I could see my mom, I could see me, I could see my father.
